Tips For a Glorious Tan

It comes as no surprise that when you look good you feel good! There are many psychological benefits to having a fabulous tan like increased self-confidence and self-esteem.

Gaining a natural sun tan has additional medical benefits as well as the psychological ones, like the absorption of vitamin D which is required for healthy bones. However, whilst a natural sun tan can be a great thing both psychologically and medically there are some basic precautions worth taking to get a beautiful, safe sunkissed glow.

Here are our recommendations to being sun savvy and getting the best sunkissed tan:
1.  DO wear sunscreen - the higher the better, but don't start below SPF20; this will enable you to stay in the sun longer safely. Don’t forget to reapply your sunscreen regularly. To achieve the best sun tan you need to let your skin tan gradually.

2. DO apply your sunscreen 25minutes before going into the sun to give the active ingredients time to start working. We find the best time to apply is before you get dressed in the morning so you don't miss the sensitive areas around your bikini lines.

3. DON'T sit in direct sunlight at the hottest time of the day between 12-4pm, the Spanish invented the siesta for a reason you know! However, if a siesta is not for you, then at least take some shade and drink plenty of water. Not only will it help your skin look radiant, improving the look of your sunkissed tan, it will also stop you dehydrating!

4. DO take your fake tan with you. Apply it in the evenings to enhance to your natural developing sunkissed tan. By using fake tan you’ll have instant colour and can build up your sunkissed tan more gradually and without burning.
